Setting Goals and Objectives 2021
With only 29 days before the year 2021 begins, most of us are preparing to receive this new year with great expectation of what God will bring us in it; That is why during the next few weeks we will be preparing the different areas of our lives to start 2021 on the right foot.
We have prepared a printable form that will help you on the process of setting up your goals and objectives for 2021
To begin, it is important to recognize that our life is composed of 5 different areas as far as goal setting is concerned;
- The spiritual life – The spiritual life includes our prayer life, the reading of the word, fasting; everything that has to do with our intimate relationship with God. When we plan and set goals for the coming year, we must include a work plan that helps us achieve our spiritual goals. Next week we will be diving into this topic for you to have a guide to prepare so that you can have the best year possible in your spiritual life!
- Our personal development (Studies, career, ministry, etc.) – Our personal development involves everything that has to do with our intellectual growth, mainly with acquiring those skills and knowledge that will lead us to be a better individual in our secular or ministerial career and in our studies. We will be diving into this area in the coming weeks.
- The financial area – We are all aware that to live and achieve most of the goals that we set ourselves it will require a certain amount of money to some extent. This is why we must set financial goals that would place us in a more favorable position to achieve the rest of our goals. We will also be dedicating a video in the coming weeks to develop an effective work plan that would bring us to end 2021 successfully.
- Our relationships (Marriage, children, family and friends) – Very seldom we give the necessary attention that our personal relationships deserve; and this is mainly due to the fact that we are not intentional with what we do with those people we say we love. Relationships grow and strengthen when we are intentional about them. That is why in a society so electronically connected but emotionally disconnected, we must set goals to strengthen and bless our personal relationships. Coming up in the next few weeks we will be giving some ideas on how to work this area as well.
- Our dreams – Finally our dreams. Our dreams are those longings and desires that live very deep within our hearts of which many of them are dreams that God himself has placed in our hearts. It may be that you long to procreate, or you want to buy a house, go on a vacation with your family to the beach or a mountain, lose weight, or perhaps you dream of going on a mission trip to be a blessing to those who are less fortunate. If, for example, your dream is to procreate (there are factors that are beyond your control) but there are also factors that are up to you to work on; such as preparing your body with a good balanced diet, exercising, taking pre-natal vitamins so that the body can adapt; not take any contraceptives, pray to God for the miracle, etc. Whatever your dream or your goal is, it will not be achieved without first being intentional about it, write it clearly and precisely and keep it present in order to achieve it. “And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain on tables, that he may run that reads it.” Habakkuk 2: 2 KJV
In order for us to achieve the goals that we have to set ourselves in any of these categories, it is essential to do the following:
- That we write them. If we do not write them, we will forget them.
- That we pray to God about them.
- That we keep them in a place where we can constantly see them and be reminded of them. Because out of sight is out of mind.
- And finally ACT! If we do not act these goals will only be beautiful and very good wishes that will never be fulfilled because they lack action behind the intention.
The most important thing we have to remember is a lesson that we have learned very well in 2020 and that is to acknowledge that we have to be flexible and adapt to the changes that life brings us. Regardless of the obstacles that arise, we can always do something to get closer to reaching our goals.
