In tris time or generation in which we are living; how common has it become to hear that people have depression, inferiority, low self-esteem, unhappiness, feelings of failure, and all other emotional and mental imbalances …

And we could attribute about 80% of these cases to have their beginning in comparison. And you would say how is it possible! When a person searches and opens nos PR her phone in a social media app, he begins to see the new vehicle that John bought; the new house that Mary bought; the epic vacations of the Jones; Carlos’s excellent work, Jennifer López’s perfect body, and the Smith’s perfect marriage … and we began to think; the junk of car that I have, the old house in which I live, how My husband doesn’t take me on vacation not even to the corner motel, the mediocre job I have that I can’t even afford to live month to month, how fat I am, and the disaster that I have in my marriage. No wonder people live depressed!!!

What exactly is comparison? Is the action and result of comparing. It’s an evaluation to establish similarities and differences between things. We live surrounded by opportunities to compare ourselves.

Unfortunately, comparison leads to envy; and what exactly is envy; it is a feeling of regret or suspicion for the good of others or for believing that others enjoy greater esteem and consideration. Or simply that others have it better in life than you do! It also leads to jealousy which is the envy of the triumphs of others.

Let’s consider what the Bible say about this:

“You lust and have not; you kill and burn with envy, and cannot achieve; you fight and fight, but you don’t have what you want, because you don’t ask. ” James 4: 2 KJV

This same verse says in the New Living Translation:

“They want what they don’t have, so they plot and even kill to get it. They envy what others have, but cannot get it, so they fight and wage war on them to take it away. However, they don’t have what they want because they don’t ask God for it. ” James 4: 2 NLT

We must be very careful not to fall on the comparison game because many times what we see in people is not the accurate true picture of their life. Therefore, be you! Be authentic and original.
