As christian woman we are called to be diffrent. Throughout the history in the Bible God repeatedly told the people of Israel that they needed to be diffrent; that they could not adopt the behaviors and conducts of the nations that surrounded them; and he gives them a reason… Because He was (and still is) a Holy God!
He wants to have a relationship with us, but worldly behaviors separate us from His presence… from the presence of the all mighty God.
There are many examples in the bible of women who were diffrent, and their difference was pleasing in the eyes of the Lord. Woman like Deborah, Ruth, Esther , and Maria the mother of Jesus.
“Deborah, the wife of Lappidoth, was a prophet who was judging Israel at that time.” Judges 4:4 NLT
“There were few people left in the villages of Israel — until (I) Deborah arose as a mother for Israel.” Judges 5:7 NLT
Here are a few things that as a Women of God, we should be vigilant to be diffrent from the world:
- Stay away from idolatry: this was the number one reason why the people of Israel drifted away from God time and time again. They went after their false Gods. Now a days there are still false God’s; your house, your car, your phone, your possessions, your money, your children, your husband. We must be very careful that we do not turn the things and people we love into idols.
- We must stay away from sensuality and lust. Another reason why the people of Israel drifted away from the presence of God was the fall for sexual immorality. As women of God we should be specially cautious not to be a stumbling block to any man. The way we walk, we dress, and we portray ourselves has to go in accord with the Word of God. If my attire is too tight, too revealing, too provocative; I can easily become the reason a man (or woman) lusts. As a beautiful woman, people will look at you regardless, but when sensuality is present, lust will make it’s way in.
- The way you act. Our behavior as woman of God needs to portray our love and passion for Jesus Christ. Envy, hatred, jealousy, unkindness; are personal characteristics that should not be a part of our package. The world is full of these things. We should be modeling the character of Christ; loving, kind, generous, peacemakers, we should be a reflection of our Lord.
- Associate with people that live a life worth modeling, because when you spend time with people, you begin to act like them and you begin to talk like them. When Peter went to the courtyard to see what was happening with Jesus he was acting like he didn’t know Jesus but a woman saw him and said “you are one of the! you act like them and you talk like them”. Which brings me to point number 5.
- The way you talk. If we want to be an inspiration to others we must talk the language of the kingdom of God. We can’t talk like the world does. We must guard our tongues from blasphemy, from gossip, and from belittling others. God has a plan and a purpose with everyone; not just with you. Therefor we must be very careful no to destroy with our tongues what the Lord is building with his hands. Be a part of conversations that are uplifting and encouraging not the opposite.
Let’s be the Woman of God he designed us to be; the one who would make a difference in her world!
